Rail to Refuge - free rail travel to help escape abuse
Victims of domestic violence can now get free train travel when fleeing abuse, under a new ‘rail to refuge’ scheme.
Women fleeing domestic abuse can now access free train travel to refuge accommodation, through Women’s Aid’s new ‘rail to refuge’ scheme, supported by Southeastern and Great Western Railway. When lockdown started, the Rail Delivery Group were quick to respond to women’s needs and launched a temporary, nationwide scheme. To use the scheme, you need to have a confirmed refuge place and the refuge can book th eticket for free travel.
